The New Old, read all about Zoomers
If you want a good read on just how important you and the rest of Canada’s Zoomers are, you can’t do better than The New Old, a book by David Cravit, Executive Vice President of ZoomerMedia Ltd.. Cravit was interviewed on Goldhawk Fights Back, on AM740, on February 4.
The author is only one of many talking about the aging of the population, but Cravit tells the story behind the statistics. He points to the many ways older people today are very different from the older people of any previous time. This book reveals how the Baby Boomer generation is permanently destroying old-fashioned concepts of aging, senior lifestyles, retirement and the long slide to the end of life.
As one review says, “The New Old shows how the Boomers’ simple act of refusing to age is creating a revolution – in everything from education to employment to housing to health and beauty and, of course, to sex.”
The book is not only an eye opener for zoomers, it’s a great guide for organizations that serve the older population and that do not want to be left behind as zoomers put zip into the boomer crowd. The New Old does have its share of stats but they are meaningful, including an analysis of welfare rates and health-care costs demonstrating Zoomers are influencing everything as they move, at 50 – 65 years of age, into what is becoming the second half of their lives.
The book is available at Chapters Indigo.
